In 1989 Pat and Dick Carder and family bought farmland that had originally been Hulverstone and Brook Farms, but which, in the 1970s and 80s had been amalgamated into Dunsbury Farm with hedges and pastures taken out. Chapel Furlong Farm came into being with the Carders inheriting 60 acres of cauliflowers but no farmhouse or outbuildings.

Since those early days the farm has reverted back to traditional mixed farming and pastures and hedges have been replaced. Tod, Jackie and their sons John and Philip now also farm Mottistone Manor Farm and run the farm shop selling their own beef, lamb and pork.
