In 1926 Jack Seely sold Brooke House to his brother Charles and worked with his son John on bringing Mottistone Manor back to the condition it was in before the great landslip in 1703. Mr Jackman and his family, who, up until then had worked and lived in the Manor as tenant farmers, were moved to Mottistone Manor Farm.

Babs Barton (Jackman) remembers living at the Manor as a child: I was frightened. It was so big and full of black beetles and mice. The black beetles were so thick on the floor you crunched as you walked through the oldest part of the Manor.
