Below: A handwritten letter from Princess Beatrice to Sir Charles Seely, Lord Lieutenant, in 1919. In this note attached to the King’s address to the IOW Volunteer Force, she offers her personal appreciation for the ‘ready manner in which the Island responded’ and the ‘very valuable services which have been rendered’.
